Great video Mike.........camera work and graphics were outstanding........not one hint of a stutter either🤗

You will have to pass on your settings sometime and let us know how to achieve results like that. I'm assuming you have a high end machine to get the graphics to those settings without any visual slowing down.

Nice video Mike!

I'm surprised how long you were able to keep your kite flying after losing a wing.  8)

Pip, pip,
Conky

P.S. I won't' be doing much 'flying' in the next couple of weeks (I'm away from my main computer), but I do have my old, slow, prehistoric unit with me so I will try to build some '46 missions.

Hi chaps, thanks for the comments!
The video isn't what it was supposed to be, there's one scene missing between "meeting with god" and replaying the first part. I've inserted a "fast rewind effect" inbetween, but somehow managed to kick it out before rendering the project. Might redo that later.
Stuttering isn't much of an issue to me in IL-2 Great Battles, not more than it is in 1946. You can find deeper analysis of FPS etc. including my system specs and all settings here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,57904.0.html

After the crash it actually wasn't me who was "flying" the kite, it was IL-2 GB's physics. I've been dead at the moment when the bomb exploded. I must admit that IL-2 GB is reinventing physics a bit when a plane with just one wing does not start spinning immediately, nevertheless it's fun to watch.
This strange physical implementation might just be another effect of the - apparently - early stage WIP flight model of the Henschel, which we have to remember is just an "early access" pre-release plane from Battle of Kuban.

Cheers!

That's really helpful Mike. I missed that post on SAS

Your explanations helped a lot as the detail and graphs were a little beyond my understanding.

I also have an i5 (old 4670 but o/c to 4200) and a Nvidia gtx 960 o/c to 1360 core and 1953 memory (probably not up to 970 performance though). Do not have an SSD but do have 16gb of RAM. Monitor is Asus at 1920x1200.
Will try your settings and work back if I have FPS issues.

I have only dabbled in IL2 1946 videos but always noticed micro stutters in online videos. This corresponds with my own experience particularly with cockpit view out of the side windows: I use your conf.ini settings. Did you publish your Nvidia settings for 1946 anywhere? Would really appreciate trying them out.

Thanks so much Mike.

Already tried your BOS settings and they work well on my ancient machine.

Hey, Mike, idiot that I am I bought BOS on Steam. How do I access the config.ini etc on Steam so I can use your settings?

Or better yet, if I buy a disc version of Kuban, say, can I transfer BOS and BOM from Steam to the Kuban disc.  I hate this bloody Steam.

Thanks.

I'v got deja vue all over me...

Wait Woof, don't mix things up here please ;)
The conf.ini is IL-2 1946, as are the Nvidia Control Panel settings written here in this thread so far.

These are the Settings I'm using currently in IL-2 Great Battles:
General Setting = Ultra
Screen Resolution = 2560x1440
Full screen = On
Enable VR HMD = Off
Multi GPU Support = Off
VSync = Off
SSAO = On
HDR = On
Sharpen = Off
Shadows Quality = High
Mirrors = Complex
Distant landscape detail = x4
Landscape filter = Off
Grass quality = Ultra
Target FPS = 144
Dynamic Resolution factor = Full
Antialiasing = 4
Gamma correction = 1

These are the Nvidia Control Panel Settings for IL-2 Great Battles:
Driver Version = 390.77
DSR Factors = Off
Anisotropic filtering = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - FXAA = Off
Antialiasing - Setting = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Gamma correction = On
Antialiasing - Mode = Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency = Off
Preferred Refresh rate = Highest Available
CUDA - GPUs = All
Triple buffering = Off
Power management mode = Prefer Maximum Performance
Optimize for compute performance = Off
Maximum pre-rendered frames = 2
Monitor-technology = G-SYNC
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) = Off
OpenGL-rendering GPU = Geforce GTX 970
Shadercache = On
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization = On
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias = Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality = High Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization = Off
Threaded optimization = Off
Vertical sync = On
Pre-rendered VR-Frames = 1

For BOS there is no such thing like "conf.ini" (well there is, but no need to touch it). All ingame settings are done in the game's GUI.
Steam or not doesn't matter.
Only difference is the location of your BOS game files.
Per default, Non-Steam installs into
C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad
whereas Steam version per default goes to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad
(depends on your Steam library location if you have that set different)

Cheers!

Sorry Woof......I have confused things by asking Mike an IL2 1946 question in the IL2 BOS section......Doh!😫

These days I get a little confused about where the sun comes from.  So thanks for your help, Mike and Bounder...I'll just keep on thrashing up and down and in and out...and sometimes sideways. :-*

Finally found time to re-render the video and re-insert the "fast rewind" effect after initial crash and meeting with god ;)
1st post has been updated.

Seems remarkably stable considering you only had one-and-a-half wings...If you weren't killed, was the kite still flyable one wonders?

As I said on SAS, if it had been us English chappies flying this unfortunate accident would not have occurred. English politeness and consideration would of prevailed: 'After you Cecil", "No, after you Claude"

Good shooting though Mike; of both the target tank and the footage!
